Granted Dispensation October 17, 2009, Matthias Military Lodge was founded as a small Masonic Study Group in Sharana Air Field, Afghanistan by Brother David Kelly Williams, Brother Eldon Roy Lopez, Brother Darius Keith. With the help of visiting brother Kamal Bush (Wash. Jurisdiction), the Lodge was granted a charter under the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Oklahoma and its Jurisdictions.
After a lot of work and dedication to this thing we call Freemasonry, Worshipful Master Williams (Brothers Keith and Lopez were assigned as Senior and Junior Wardens respectivley) was re-deployed back to the United States with his unit, becoming the Lodge's first Past Master thus setting the legacy of Matthias Military Lodge.
Freemasonry in Afghanistan first began as the dream of District Deputy Grand Master Ronnie L. Scott who founded Alpha Military Lodge #195 in Bagram, Afghanistan which was the cornerstone of what was later to become District 15, Oklahoma Jurisdiction. He had one simple vision: "To promote Freemasonry in Afghanistan and its perspective areas, bringing back the true meaning of Brotherly and Sisterly Love; Friendship, and Morality."
This idea is the very fabric of what our entire District is founded and as a result, District 15 has made history in becoming the fastest growing district in Oklahoma and its Jurisdictions. We of Matthias Military Lodge #212 are proud to be a part of history in the making.
